Here is one of my latest works I worked on for Hinge. This project was solely an in house project. The object of it was to stretch our skills and prove we can do realistic cars. I think it turned out pretty sweet. I was in charge of scene data collection, creating the hdri, tone mapping the hdr to match the back plate, creating the CG environment to be reflected into the car (mainly a “tunnel” of trees), as well as all of the shading, lighting, and rendering. We rendered with Mental Ray. We used Unified Sampling along with in camera motion blur along with native ibl. The renders took any where between 15 minutes to an hour and a half (due to a closeup of the car, motion blur, and a 6k environment map). Compositing was done in Nuke.
